Ready for battle…

Had our last full band rehearsal last night – all set for our gig in London on the  27th – the national final of the New Brunswick Battle of the Blues 2012 competition. We’re going to run through our set once more though – acoustic/unplugged style at the North Terrace in Newcastle on Sunday 25th. Come on down if you can!

Thought I’d try out some different slides/bottlenecks on my new electric guitar – the James Tyler Variax.

Could I find my old faithful, if slightly lethal, glass bottleneck?

No. Where’s that at then? Smashed and polished by hand, I’d had it about 20 years 🙁

Anyway, it’s possible that in the intervening years things may have moved on a bit, so I thought I’d have a look down Denmark Street. By far, the best selection was in Westside M.I. – lots of stock and great range of styles and weights and sizes.

So far, I’m liking the Eric Sardinas Preachin’ Pipe – brass, good weight, good fit to my finger and contoured to fit a curved fretboard. And little risk of losing a finger – maybe I’ll get over losing that old glass bottle.
