Everything is so hectic this time of year but here’s a brief update on what’s been going on:
Competition time again – we heard early December that we’re through to the regional heat of the New Brunswick Battle of the Blues competition. We had a lot of fun last year and came pretty close so we’re really looking forward to this. The heat is in Redcar on the 8th February and here’s the running order:
2030: The Hookas
2100: Half Deaf Clatch
2130: How Askew
2200: Tom Adams
2230: Street Corner Blues
2300: The Sugar B’s
Having seen Clatch and Chris James (playing in Street Corner Blues) last year and having heard the Hookas and the Sugar B’s on Gary Grainger’s blues show, I know this will be a great night and a tough competition! Hope to see some of you there.
Our last gig of 2012 was for a private party and with a lot of friends in the audience, we had a lot of fun trying a few new numbers and experimenting a little – I was sliding around on lap steel and mixing in a little electronica, Richy showed off his home-made 6 string fretless bass in an extravagant, ambidextrous display and we even let Gav sing one – and it turned out to be the biggest hit of the night! Great Stuff 🙂 For the very first time, I took out all the toys – witness the firepower of this fully ARMED and OPERATIONAL battle station…
Looking forward to the new year and releasing our first new music.
Here’s wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and all the best for a happy and healthy 2013.
